Low Self Esteem?

Feeling down on yourself? Need a confidence boost? If so, just head over to the nearest skilled nursing facility! In the past couple of weeks that I've been working at Grace Living Center (GLC), I've been told I have gorgeous hair (by more than one person), they appreciate what I do, and that I'm their favorite therapist (again, by more than one person). And if their compliments aren't going to cheer you up, they're smiling faces will. Since I don't think I'm allowed to post pictures of the patients, I decided to post a picture of the facility. I know it's not much, but I figured it's better than nothing.

After tomorrow, I'll have been at GLC for 3 weeks and so far, I really like it! To be honest, I was really hesitant to work with the elderly in the beginning, but it's turned out to be 100x better than I expected. It's a lot of fun working with them, teasing them (not to mention getting teased), and learning about their lives.

Here's a little story I thought was cute. Last Friday, we were having group therapy and reviewing trivia from the 40s & 50s. We came across a few questions that I was totally stumped on. When I told them I didn't know the answers, they asked what year I was born. When I said 1985, they chuckled and said that I was just a young chick!
